First… I personally want to thank our Cedar Crest Staff for making this all possible. Thank you for giving me the opportunity and the time to share this with each Department!. What a wonderful drives it was. …Through partnering with the Miracles of Hope Network, Denise Marhoefer miraculously provided the New Orleans High School teens in need of a having a miracle prom and then provided A 53 ft. truck through "Free haul Shipping Company"based in Arizona, stop by on April 26 th to pick up over 10,000 lbs. of the following prom attire….. 1375 prom dresses(Many, many of them brand new) 250 tuxedos, including tuxedo shirts, cumberbuns, cufflinks, and bow ties 200 men's suits 100 men's shirts Thousands of dollars worth of vintage jewelry (our resident committee carefully cleaned and individually bagged every piece) Hundreds of dollars worth of AVON jewelry and perfumes 57 Tiaras filled with rhinestones, pearls and shimmer 275 pairs of women's evening sandals and shoes 75 pairs of men's shoes 250 evening bags Other items included Stetson hats, shawls, cosmetics, cosmetic bags, lotions and perfumes A 3ft. Bird cage decorated in a prom theme filled with vintage jewelry and hair accessories A white wicker basket 4ft. long filled with tiaras, jewelry, and pins custom made shoes and handbags A silver basket 2ft. long filled with over 50 pairs of brand new evening gloves from short to very long stylesA very special thank you to all Cedar Crest Residents for their generosity, kindness and giving of themselves. And to our communities; specifically Fox Run, Kathie Shaffer, Brooksby, Tom Cook, Greenspring, Jarad Smith and Seabrook, Jackie Schatell for participating in this special drive.
Outside our community specific schools helped from, Pequannock Junior and Senior High, Sparta High, DePaul Catholic and Kennelon High. Celeste Hinlicky from; Georgian Court College in Lakewood, NJ partnered with us donating boxes of gowns and accessories.
Last but not least THANK YOU to all of the Resident Volunteers and friends who made this a wonderful and worthwhile project. You made so many Katrina teenagers so happy and beautiful! This is the first step for these students to have a new beginning and hope for the future. Thank you all for making their prom dreams come true and thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this mission possible. |
